And We’re Back! Brym Version 2.0 + Season 2 Preview
Long time no see! Hoping everyone has been enjoying a fantastic Summer period and start to Fall. There is so much to catch up on - excited to get things rolling again heading into the home stretch of 2022!
Over the last few months since the Season 1 Finale and Recap in July, we’ve been dreaming about what the next version of Brym could look like. Learning from the folks we met across the world, we hope to continue parts of our existing (Version 1) model + start evolving in a few new ways.
Taking a step back, Brym’s premise for Year 1 was: ‘Create an intentional global community working at the intersection of climate innovation and justice’… we feel really good about how that came together.
Just around 200 people from 22 countries are now a part of this Community Network, receiving these updates and giving their feedback. Others have engaged through our Linkedin Page and even directly through our Website.
Now, the question for Year 2 becomes:
How do we bring this global group together in a meaningful and actionable way?
Below, you’ll find an outline of Brym’s model to achieve this goal heading into Year 2 along with an update on what to expect next!
3 Headed Dragon
Brym’s model for Year 2 can be distilled into three interconnected avenues:
Community - 2 big things to highlight here.
Global Working Group (GWG): Brym will be constructing an initial GWG - made up of 10 individuals to start - half from outside the US and half from inside the US - all under the age of 35 (as the UN defines ‘Youth’)
This will be a fluid group with the intention of sharing work, supporting common initiatives and even building projects together in the long term.
Look out for an introduction to some of our initial GWG members coming soon!
Earth Day Summit, NYC 2023! ‘Signs of Hope: Building Global Climate Coalitions’
In Partnership with the Center for Earth Ethics, run by Karenna Gore, and Union Theological Seminary’s Center for Community Engagement and Social Justice, Brym will be producing a Global Climate Justice Summit where we hope to bring together 50-70 young people from across the world.
The goal of the Summit will be to not only share experiences, but to intentionally think about how to build projects together across geopolitical boundaries. In coordination with the Global Working Group, we hope this jumpstarts the start of a Global Innovation Lab working on Youth-Led Climate Solutions.
Storytelling - Media - Citizen Journalism:
Storytelling, as we saw during Season 1, is one of the greatest impacts we can add to the climate conversation. What stories aren’t being told by BBC or CNN? What can we learn from each other’s stories? Can we build those lessons into our own work along the way?
Now, however, the perspective will shift. Instead of ‘Thomas from Brym’ being the writer of ‘case studies,’ we are inviting individuals to write their own stories in their own way. This concept is called Citizen Journalism - Here is a video where you can learn more about it.
Our first episode will launch on Thursday, October 20th! Afterwards, episodes will drop every other week, on Thursdays, just like Season 1.
Consulting - Engine:
Brym will be taking on project work with different organizations who are focused at our thesis: the intersection of climate innovation and social justice.
This will be the engine that keeps Brym sustainable as an organization and helps fuel the work of our Community and Storytelling.
If you have a project that you need help with, please feel free to reach out and get in touch with us!
Keep Your Eyes Peeled!
Season 2 will begin on October 20th and run through March of 2023 - another 6 month season - with stories every other week!
We couldn’t be more excited to continue on this journey with all of you. Our audience is small and focused, with the intention of encouraging engagement from all of you. If there are ideas you’d like to bring to the table, if you’d like to be a part of the Global Working Group or Climate Summit, if you’d like to offer feedback on what we can be doing better, please let us know.
Please remember also to move this email from your Promotions Tab to your Inbox if we’’re still stuck there :)
Take Care!
